British intelligence reported Friday that Russia carried out “three of its largest drone attacks” against Ukraine this week since the full-scale invasion began in 2022. According to the report, “more than 900 drones” were launched over just three days, targeting various sites including the capital, Kyiv.

“For three consecutive nights, between May 23 and 26, Russia conducted three of its largest kamikaze drone attacks on Ukraine since the start of the war,” the UK Ministry of Defence said in a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter.

These strikes were part of a broader offensive, marked by “attacks launched from multiple directions and with various weapons, with a particular focus on Kyiv,” the statement added.

British officials also highlighted that on May 25 and 26, Russia deployed long-range strategic bombers, including Tu-95 Bear-H aircraft, marking the first use of such bombers on consecutive days since August 2024.

“Russia’s ability to rapidly replenish its stocks following attacks allows its long-range aviation to remain ready to execute offensives like these with little or no prior warning, at a time of its choosing,” the ministry concluded. The statement was accompanied by the hashtag #WeStandWithUkraine.

On Sunday night, Russia launched its largest drone attack since the beginning of the invasion, deploying 355 unmanned aerial vehicles across multiple areas of Ukraine. U.S. President Donald Trump called Russian President Vladimir Putin “crazy” in response to the escalation.

According to an official report issued Monday by Ukraine’s Air Force, the overnight assault included not only 355 drones—comprising both attack UAVs and decoys meant to overwhelm air defenses—but also nine Kh-101 cruise missiles.

On Saturday night, Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions were already targeted by what authorities described as the largest combined air assault since the war began: a total of 69 missiles of various types and 298 drones were used, killing at least 12 people and injuring dozens more.

The new wave of massive attacks confirms a clear hardening in the Kremlin’s military strategy, relying on aerial saturation to wear down Ukraine’s defenses and increase pressure on the civilian population.
