The armed wing of the Hamas group released a video on Wednesday showing an Israeli hostage alive in Gaza, speaking in Hebrew and walking through a tunnel.

The video, nearly three minutes long and published by the Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades, shows the captive speaking directly to the camera.

Meanwhile, the Times of Israel, which reported the news, indicated that Israeli media outlets refrain from sharing videos or still images of hostages without the consent of their families.

In April of last year, Hamas had released a video showing two hostages: Keith Siegel, 64; and the aforementioned Omri Miran, 47.

Siegel was freed on February 1 alongside hostages Yarden Bibas and Ofer Kalderon, while Miran remains in captivity.

In the newly released video, Miran also appears sitting in a confined space, greeting Israeli demonstrators who have been protesting against the government and demanding the release of the hostages.

He also states that the hostages are living in fear and urges for an agreement to be reached as soon as possible to secure their release.

During the October 7 attack, Palestinian Islamist commandos kidnapped around 250 people, approximately one hundred of whom were released during a one-week truce at the end of November. Israel estimates that 129 remain in Gaza, 34 of whom are believed to have died since then.

Israeli authorities have consistently condemned the publication of such videos, which they consider a psychological warfare tool used by Hamas.
