“We are ready to achieve an unconditional ceasefire,” said the Ukrainian president, asserting that Russia is responsible for prolonging the war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he will send a delegation to London this Wednesday to participate in talks with Western countries in search of a solution to the war with Russia, which has lasted for over three years.
“This Wednesday, our representatives will be working in London. Ukraine, the United Kingdom, France, and the United States — we are ready to move forward as constructively as possible, just as we have done before, to achieve an unconditional ceasefire, followed by the establishment of a real and lasting peace,” Zelensky stated via social media platform X.
The Ukrainian president also referred to the 30-hour truce announced by Russia during Easter, a ceasefire that both sides accused each other of violating. According to Zelensky, this event demonstrates that Moscow’s actions are to blame for the continuation of the conflict.
“An unconditional ceasefire must be the first step toward peace, and this Easter made it clear that it is Russia’s actions that are prolonging the war,” he wrote.
In his message, Zelensky also noted that he had a “good and detailed conversation” with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as part of diplomatic efforts to advance the resolution of the conflict.
The Ukrainian president expanded on his message regarding the war with Russia, stating, “A genuine order for the Russian army to cease fire must come from Moscow. And if there is no firm order from Russia for a ceasefire, then there will be no ceasefire,” Zelensky wrote in another post on X this Monday.
Zelensky noted that there were no air raid alerts during Easter and that some sectors of the front remained quiet. “This shows that a ceasefire is possible. It is possible when Russia chooses to reduce the bloodshed.” However, he also stated, “Today, Russian attacks have been even more intense. By just 10:00 a.m. today, there had already been nearly three thousand bombings, assaults, and other attacks. Russian missiles were used, along with nearly ninety aerial bombs, heavy weaponry, and drones.”
The president stressed that Ukraine continues to uphold its proposal not to target civilian infrastructure and is awaiting a clear response from Moscow on the matter. “We are ready for any discussion on how to ensure this,” he added.
Zelensky emphasized an “obvious, simpler, and more reliable” way to guarantee the safety of civilian infrastructure: “stopping long-range missile and drone attacks, which would automatically ensure the protection of civilian facilities.” He affirmed that a real and lasting ceasefire must be the first step toward a secure and lasting peace.
Zelensky also reiterated that the Ukrainian representatives participating in this week’s meetings in London, as well as those recently held in Paris, have the main goal of securing an unconditional ceasefire. “That must be the starting point. Peace comes with silence, and only when there is true silence,” he concluded.
At a critical moment in the war, Ukraine continues to insist on the need for an unconditional ceasefire as the first step toward a stable and secure peace, while the international community closely follows the developments of this prolonged crisis.
